Job Summary:

Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position is available in a Level 1 trauma center. This role involves providing acute care to a diverse patient population, including neonates to the elderly with a wide range of complaints from minor injuries to critical illnesses. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a highly skilled team.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois license or confirmation of application process, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or TNS (Trauma Nurse Specialist); at least 2 years of emergency nursing experience and one prior travel assignment preferred; active certification required; working at a hospital with residents (teaching hospital) preferred
• Department: Emergency Department

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3-5 depending on acuity and needs
• Common diagnoses/patient types: All ages with a wide variety of complaints, including critically ill, trauma, stroke, and cardiac patients
• Coverage details: Varies by time of day with a minimum of three physicians on duty, including ED physicians and mid-level providers
• Support staff: ED techs with a ratio of 1:9, respiratory therapists assisting with vents and airway management
• Monitoring: Phillips monitors with nurses expected to interpret rhythms, ACLS-certified
• Diagnostic Services: Radiology staff or transport handle imaging; nurses and techs draw labs
• Floating: Rare; typically only assists on other units as help all
• Staff Attire: No specific scrub color, with solid-colored shirts recommended
