Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Neurodiagnostic/EEG Technologist to perform routine and advanced EEG monitoring in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of hospital experience and current BLS certification.

R.EEG.T. certification is preferred and a license may be required depending on the state. The role involves 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, Friday through Sunday, totaling 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• REEG.T. certification preferred.
• License required if applicable.
• Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based EEG department.
• 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday through Sunday.
• 36 hours per week.
• Performs routine outpatient and inpatient EEGs, prolonged EEGs to rule out brain death, and long-term continuous EEG monitoring.
• Conducts outpatient event monitoring and private VEEGs using the 10-20 system for electrode placement.
• Monitors multiple patients' EEG and video in the EMU.
• Performs VEEG inpatient event monitoring, ictal SPECT monitoring, and EEGs during WADA procedures in Interventional Radiology.
• Conducts intracarotid EEG recording and intra-operative/pre-operative EEG brain mapping.
• Performs non-EEG functions including evoked potentials and SSEP.
• Monitors patients during clinical events and notifies physicians or nurses as needed to ensure patient safety.
• Maintains compliance with ASET minimum standards and infection control protocols.
• Provides patient education related to neurodiagnostic procedures.
• Understands risks affecting recording quality such as poor electrode connections and electrical interference.
