Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Echo Technologist to perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms in a fast-paced acute-care cardiology department.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of independent TTE experience, current BLS, and an active echocardiography credential (RDCS/CCS or CCI). Responsibilities include image acquisition, data interpretation under supervision, and collaboration with cardiology staff in ICU and emergency settings.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience performing independent adult transthoracic echocardiograms
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Active echocardiography credential through ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS)
• License required if applicable
• Graduate of an accredited cardiac sonography, cardiovascular technology, or diagnostic medical sonography program
• Proficiency with 2D, M-mode, color Doppler, spectral Doppler and associated cardiac measurements
• Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular disease processes
• Ability to recognize technically limited studies and obtain alternative views
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced acute-care environment

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) including 2D, M-mode, color-flow, pulsed-wave, and continuous-wave Doppler imaging
• Assist with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and stress echocardiograms as needed
• May perform portable studies in ICU, emergency department, and other high-acuity settings
• Review patient history and prior cardiac studies to guide exam technique
• Position patients and modify imaging techniques based on condition and body habitus
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper transfer/storage of images
• Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, reporting concerns as needed
• Follow infection-prevention, patient-identification, and safety standards
• Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, physicians, and the cardiovascular care team

Responsibilities

• Cardiology-Diagnostic unit setting
• Adult patient population across varying acuity levels, including ICU and emergency patients
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Performs comprehensive adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) including 2D, M-mode, color-flow, pulsed-wave, and continuous-wave Doppler imaging
• Assists with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and stress echocardiograms as needed
• May perform portable studies in ICU, emergency department, and other high-acuity settings
• Perform cardiac measurements and calculations including ventricular function, chamber size, wall motion, valve assessment, and hemodynamics
• Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy and pathology, and communicate significant or critical findings promptly per department protocol
• Review patient history and prior cardiac studies to guide exam technique
• Position patients and modify imaging techniques based on condition and body habitus
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper transfer/storage of images within the facility's imaging system
• Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, reporting concerns as needed
• Follow infection-prevention, patient-identification, and safety standards
• Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, physicians, and the cardiovascular care team
• Recent acute-care hospital experience, inpatient/outpatient echocardiography, TEE assistance, stress echo, and contrast-enhanced echocardiography experience preferred
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate depending on facility location
• Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
