Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR position in Florence, SC. The role requires NBSTSA certification and confidence in open heart and vascular surgery cases.

Responsibilities include assisting with high-volume CVOR cases, patient positioning, sterile technique, and surgical counts. A 13-week assignment with 06:00–14:30 shifts and weekend call is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a surgical technology role.
• NBSTSA certification required (only certification recognized in South Carolina).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• License required if applicable.
• Ability to perform confidently in open heart and vascular surgery cases.

Responsibilities

• CVOR unit averaging 6 cases per day.
• Cardiovascular patient population including open heart and vascular surgeries.
• 13-week assignment with weekday shift hours from 06:00-14:30.
• Weekend call required.
• Work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures.
• Ensure availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment.
• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment for surgical cases.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping according to hospital standards.
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during time out procedures.
• Perform instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator.
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Assist with specimen preparation and handoff as appropriate.
• Support terminal cleaning and sterilization of instruments and OR rooms.
• Use standard precautions and appropriate PPE when handling hazardous substances.
• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, and staff.
