Job summary

Newsandtribune seeks a CVOR Surgical Tech with cardiovascular surgery experience and Epic proficiency for a hospital operating room assignment. This travel position covers multiple facilities in New Jersey, with float to General ORs, 3x12-hour days, and on-call responsibilities.

Candidates must have 2–3 years CVOR experience, ACLS/BLS, active license, and prior travel work. Epic EMR expertise is required; scrub duties and safety protocols are essential for patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2–3 years CVOR experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• License required if applicable
• Active state license(s) and certifications must be in hand
• Prior travel experience required
• Must be able to scrub within the CVOR specialty
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Experience with vascular, cardiovascular, general surgery, and gynecological procedures preferred
• Skilled in aseptic technique, isolation precautions/PPE, sharps safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
• Familiarity with crash carts, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources/cords
• Cardiothoracic robotic surgery experience preferred
• Must be clean shaven for fit testing prior to working on the unit

Responsibilities

• Hospital CVOR unit with float requirements to General OR and up to five hospitals within skillset
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• On-call responsibilities with 30-minute response time
• Epic EMR experience required
• Work in CVOR, General OR, and Hybrid OR settings
• Support surgical procedures within CVOR and General OR, including complex vascular, cardiovascular, and general surgery cases
• Assist with instrumentation, aseptic technique, and safety protocols during procedures
• Participate in emergency management and fire safety practices
• Float to General OR and among designated hospitals based on staffing needs
• Scrubs provided by the hospital
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; no RTO after submission
• No RTO during first week of assignment
• Block scheduling not permitted
• Candidates within 50 miles of facility subject to local pay rate
• COVID-20 and Flu vaccinations required with no exemptions
• Complete pre-employment labs within 48 hours of signing
