Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for an Acute Care Hospital assignment in Minnesota. Candidates must have at least 1 year of acute care experience and a BLS certification.

The role spans medical, surgical, orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiac and critical care units with an average 2-week rehab LOS. Day shift 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, every 4th weekend, travel housing and licensure reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Active Minnesota COTA license required.
• Experience with prosthetics/orthotics, functional splints, and rehabilitation for CVA, TBI, amputee, and orthopedic injuries preferred.
• Must be able to perform patient lifting and transfers.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services within an interdisciplinary acute care and rehabilitation team.
• Assist with patient/family education, safety, and injury prevention.
• Participate in discharge planning and documentation.
• Travelers may cover a broad range of acute care and rehabilitation settings.
• Support an Acute Rehab Facility with stroke patients and typical LOS around 2 weeks.
• Work 5x8 day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) and every 4th weekend.

• Experience with prosthetics/orthotics, functional splints, and rehabilitation for conditions such as CVA, TBI, amputee, and orthopedic injuries preferred
• Must be able to perform patient lifting and transfers

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting covering medical, surgical, orthopedics, neurological, neurosurgery, cardiac, and critical care patients
• Also supports an Acute Rehab Facility with an average length of stay of 2 weeks and a high percentage of stroke patients
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Requires working every 4th weekend
• Epic charting system preferred
• Provide occupational therapy services within an interdisciplinary acute care and rehabilitation team
• Assist with patient/family education, safety, and injury prevention
• Participate in discharge planning and documentation
• Holiday coverage required as needed by the facility
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• All time off requests must be disclosed and approved at the time of consideration
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
• Travelers must reside at least 25 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Local candidates within 25 miles are not accepted
• Minnesota Livescan fingerprinting must be completed in person the Monday prior to the assignment start date, with no exceptions
• Lab work must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
