Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Traveling CNC Programmer (Mastercam) for a 2nd shift travel assignment in Wisconsin. The role targets experienced Mastercam programmers to program, edit, and optimize 5-axis machining on advanced mills and lathes.

You will lead operators on the shop floor, develop efficient toolpaths, select tooling and cutting parameters, and ensure GD&T compliance while driving cycle-time reductions. Compensation includes $45-$50/hour, $160/day per diem, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Extensive CNC programming using Mastercam.
• Strong milling and turning programming.
• Experience programming and optimizing 5-axis machining operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
• Proven experience with toolpath development and process optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in CNC environments.
• Experience supporting, mentoring, or leading CNC operators.
• Knowledge of fixture design and workholding methods.
• Mastercam Certification or equivalent hands-on expertise.

Responsibilities

• Program, edit, and optimize CNC milling/turning operations using Mastercam.
• Develop efficient toolpaths for complex 5-axis components.
• Select tooling and cutting parameters to maximize productivity and quality.
• Interpret drawings, GD&T, and precision standards.
• Design and improve fixtures and workholding solutions.
• Support machine setups, prove-outs, and first-piece inspections.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues on the shop floor.
• Reduce cycle times and scrap; drive continuous improvement.
• Lead and mentor 2nd shift CNC operators.
