Job summary

MedCadre is seeking a Travel Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed OT. The COTA will help patients improve functional abilities and independence while adapting to different clinical environments.

Requirements include an OTA associate degree, active COTA license, BLS, and preferred NBCOT certification. Travel experience and EMR familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited OTA program.
• Active COTA license in the state of practice.
• Current NBCOT certification preferred/required where applicable.
• Current BLS certification required.
• At least 1 year of COTA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans created by the OT.
• Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility and functional skills.
• Assist patients with ADLs and functional tasks.
• Train in adaptive techniques, devices and safety strategies.
• Monitor and document patient progress; report changes to the OT.
• Educate patients and caregivers on exercises and home programs.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
• Collaborate with OTs, physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
• Adapt to different facilities, workflows and patient populations.
• Follow infection control, HIPAA, patient safety and facility policies.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Travel Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide occupational therapy services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will help patients improve functional abilities, independence, mobility, and performance of daily activities while adapting to different clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.


• Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and functional skills.


• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional tasks.


• Provide training in adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and safety strategies.


• Monitor and document patient progress and report changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.


• Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, home programs, and safe functional techniques.


• Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).


• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.


• Adapt quickly to different facilities, workflows, and patient populations.


• Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and facility policies.


• Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.


• Active COTA license in the state of practice.


• Current NBCOT certification preferred/required as applicable.


• Current BLS certification required.


• Minimum 1 year of recent COTA experience preferred.


• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, ADL training, rehabilitation, and patient safety.


• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel healthcare experience preferred.


• Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, SNF, home health, or long-term care settings.


• Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, or medically complex patients.


• Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments and interdisciplinary teams.
