Job summary

MedCadre is seeking a compassionate Travel Occupational Therapist (OT) to evaluate and treat patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, or neurological impairments across diverse healthcare settings.

The OT will develop individualized treatment plans to improve ADLs, restore independence, and enhance quality of life while adhering to HIPAA, infection prevention, and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Active OT license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of OT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and functional assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and physician referrals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve ADLs, fine motor skills, cognition, and mobility.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, splints, orthotics, and environmental modifications.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and safety strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PTs, SLPs, case managers, and others.
• Participate in discharge planning and care continuity.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Travel Occupational Therapist (OT) to evaluate and treat patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, or neurological impairments. The Occupational Therapist will develop individualized treatment plans to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), restore functional independence, and enhance quality of life while providing high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and functional assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and physician referrals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, upper extremity function, cognition, coordination, and functional mobility.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, splints, orthotics, and environmental modifications to maximize patient independence.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safety strategies.
• Maintain accurate evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in discharge planning and coordinate continuity of patient care.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
• Adapt quickly to new facilities, workflows, and patient populations while maintaining high standards of clinical care.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Active Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Occupational Therapy experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of rehabilitation principles, adaptive equipment, therapeutic interventions, and patient assessment.
• Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous travel healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, or long-term care settings.
• Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, pediatric, post-surgical, and medically complex patients.
• Strong adaptability and ability to integrate quickly into new clinical environments.
