American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab/EP Technologist for an acute care Cath Lab & IR unit requiring 1+ years of cath lab experience and ARRT certification.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Cath Lab setting, Cath Lab, CV, EP, or Vascular IR Tech background considered
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• ARRT (R) certification and WV state license required for CV Invasive Rad Techs (RCIS not accepted due to WV equipment regulations)
• License required if applicable
• Experience with IABP and IVUS required
• Familiarity with Acist injector preferred but not required (training provided)
• Must be comfortable performing cath and peripheral procedures

Responsibilities

• Acute care Cath Lab & IR unit with 7 procedure suites, including 2 cath labs (2 bays and 5 rooms)
• Adult cardiac patient population for peripheral, cardiac catheterization, PCI, and device cases
• Average caseload of 4-5 cases per day, ranging from 2 to 9
• Cath lab team structure consists of 2 RNs and 1 technologist
• Common procedures include ICD and pacemaker placements; no EP ablations performed
• Uses EPIC EMR and Xper (Cupid) imaging system
• Philips telemetry, hardwired at bedside
• 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday-Friday 0700-1530
• Call requirement averages 10-11 shifts per month, including weekends, Monday-Friday 1530-0700
• Weekend shifts follow 0700-0700 schedule on Saturday/Sunday as needed
• Holiday coverage is handled through the on-call rotation
• May float to Non-Invasive CV to start IVs as needed
• Cardiology coverage is available 24/7 for on-call support
• Role involves scrubbing and monitoring during cath lab and IR procedures
• Resource/charge nurse manages daily flow and assignments, and may assist with cases as needed
• Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts with a preceptor followed by a buddy call period
• Scrubs are provided, with designated colors for RNs (navy blue) and Rad Techs (burgundy)
• Pharmacy support is available 24/7 via Omnicell, with certain medications mixed in the lab
• Respiratory therapy support available upon request from ICU for ventilated patients
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Radius requirement of 50 miles from the facility applies; local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers must observe a 2-year break if previously employed at any WVU Medicine location
• Travelers may not work cumulatively within WVU Medicine for longer than 1 year without a 2-year break
