Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care from admission through discharge. The role requires at least four shifts in a 6-week period, including two weekend or night shifts and one official holiday.

The RN will collaborate with patients and families, coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, and uphold MedStar SPIRIT Values while ensuring safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Bachelor's degree enrollment within 12 months of start date and completion within 4 years of start date required.
• 1-2 years RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to achievement of department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, quality and safety standards.
• Collects and analyzes patient information pertaining to physical, psychological, socio-cultural, economic, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Functions autonomously delivering relationship-based care using the nursing process and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
• Identifies current and potential problems, analyzes trends, and plans appropriate interventions.
• Incorporates evidence-based practice focusing on quality and safety.
• Acts as patient advocate by communicating clinical concerns to the team.
• Identifies patient and family needs prior to discharge and initiates discharge planning.
