The expected salary range for the Therapist I (Grade 23) role upon hire is $74,507-$94,583

The expected salary range for the Therapist II (Grade 24) role upon hire is $77,738-$116,134

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Therapist I to serve in Trauma Services in Behavioral Health and Crisis Services.

The Therapist provides assessment, individual and group therapy to primarily a caseload of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and general crime including homicide, physical assault, hate crimes, etc., and their families.

  • Therapist also provides assessment and counselling with court-ordered victims and male/female offenders of partner violence, as well as crisis intervention and management.
  • Therapist assesses the need for psychiatric consultation and refers to the psychiatrist as needed.
  • Therapist coordinates with victim assistants in cases with civil and criminal justice involvement or crime victim compensation issues.
  • Therapist maintains all records per HIPAA, VAWA/FPSA standards of confidentiality and thoroughly documents all contacts.

This position can be under-filled as a Therapist I.

Therapist I Level:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counselling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related Behavioral science field.

Experience: None

Equivalency: None

License Requirement: One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment, and maintained by the employee:

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).
  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC);
  • Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT).

Therapist II Level:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one’s professional licensing.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by the employee:

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);
  • Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);
  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland;
  • Licensed Psychologist.

Note: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.

We will use interview preference criteria:

  • Experience providing psychosocial assessment, therapy, and case management services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and general crimes.
  • Ability to be flexible, work required evenings.
  • Ability to provide services in multiple locations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and coordinated environment with Criminal Justice agencies and other HHS and non-profit agencies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish Preferred.
