Position Overview

The Indiana University School of Medicine’s Acute Care Surgery Division and IU Health Physicians are seeking a highly qualified surgeon with fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery to serve as Associate Trauma Medical Director. The role involves oversight and leadership of the trauma program, collaborating with the Trauma Medical Director to maintain high standards of trauma care, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified physician with a strong background in trauma care, EMS, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, injury prevention, and community outreach.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Acute Care Surgery services across various settings including ED, OR, ICU, and clinics.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring residents and fellows.
  • Participate in clinical research within one of the largest medical schools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care, including supervision of 25+ APPs.
Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent.
  • Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery.
  • Board certified or eligible in Surgical Critical Care.
  • Ability to obtain Indiana licensure.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an Acute Care Surgeon.
  • Background in EMS/pre-hospital care and education is desirable.
