Job summary

Advocate Health’s Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in Charlotte, NC, seeks an experienced RN for 11A Trauma Step-Down. This 24-bed unit cares for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, partnering with the Surgical Trauma Service to manage complex injuries.

The role supports a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma center environment. The position is full-time, primarily dayshift, Monday–Friday, with some flexibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Current RN licensure in appropriate state.
• MSN preferred; must complete MSN if undergraduate degree is not BSN.
• Enrollment in MSN program within 1 year of hire/transfer date and graduation within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a Professional Practice model with interdisciplinary partners to achieve high-quality patient outcomes.
• Ensures unit operations and staff comply with Nursing Practice Act, regulatory standards, and policies.
• Works as a team member to meet unit and organizational goals and maintains quality and cost-effective care.
• Leads recruitment and retention, orientation, credentialing and professional development of personnel.
• Delegates and promotes shared governance; supports research to improve clinical outcomes.
• Performs nursing care, assists with treatments and medications as needed.
• Provides and assesses patient and family education.
• Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance care quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Contributes to policy development reflecting evidence-based practice.
• Promotes accountability for professional practice and allocates resources for unit needs.
