Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego is seeking a Trauma Nurse Registrar to join our on-site team. The role supports the Trauma Program Director in data management, validation, and reporting for monthly operations and quality initiatives.

Ideal candidates will hold an active California RN license, BLS certification, and have trauma/critical care experience with strong data skills. The position requires independent work in a fast-paced environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Active California RN License
• BLS Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Registered Nurse with 2+ years trauma/ critical care / emergency nursing
• Trauma Registry course completed within twelve months
• Preferred: 1 year with medical records, ICD-10/AIS/ISS/AAAM coding
• Excellent interpersonal relationships
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced computer skills: databases, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations
• Previous Trauma Registry experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in health-related field highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs monthly audits for the trauma registrars for data entry accuracy.
• Coaches and educates non-nurse registrars on registry changes and data entry issues.
• Prepares reports for American College of Surgeons and County Site Surveys.
• Produces timely reports for regional quality management, trauma research, and injury prevention.
• Works with TPD, Trauma Medical Director, and PI coordinator to identify quality issues.
• Maintains independence, productivity, and self-management in a fast-paced setting.
