Job Overview
The Trauma Registry Analyst is responsible for all aspects of the Trauma Registry Data including abstraction, entry, and coding. The Analyst applies comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology to identify and collect complex data on the diagnoses, treatment and quality metrics related to trauma patients receiving care at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Performs ICD-10 Trauma coding and AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale) coding of all diagnoses and procedures of trauma patients. The Trauma Registry Analyst must utilize critical thinking, organization, and time management skills to achieve and maintain high productivity and accuracy in a fast‑paced and independent environment.

Education and Experience
One of the following certifications is preferred but not required: CSTR (Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries) from the American Trauma Society or CAISS (Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist) from the Assoc. for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM). Must be able to use critical thinking, organization, and time management skills to achieve and maintain high productivity and accuracy. Knowledge of trauma registry, coding, relevant healthcare related experience. Completion of AAAM course (AIS coding), Trauma Registry Course, and ICD-10 Coding course within 6 months – 1 year of hire. Accrue at least 24 hours of trauma-related CE during the verification cycle. Participate in an ICD-10 course, or refresher course every 5 years required by ACS
