The Trauma Registrar is responsible for data collection, abstraction, and analysis of trauma registry data. This includes evaluating and interpreting patient data in reference to ICD-10 and AIS coding classifications, and complying with NTDS standards in data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Trauma registry data collection, entry, injury coding and scoring, and complication identification. Ensures charts are completed and closed within 60 days of discharge.
• Validates data through concurrent chart review to meet quality standards.
• Works with Trauma Program leadership to collect and track data points for Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Prepares data for site visits, TQIP, and NJ State submissions.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (e.g., EPIC).
• Experience working with a registry.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Trauma Registrar at a Level I or II Trauma Center.

Certifications:

• Trauma registry course certification (e.g., ATS Trauma Registry) within 3 months of hire.
• Trauma-specific ICD-10 Course Certification within 3 months of hire.
• AAAM AIS Course Certificate within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR).
