Job summary

Tower Health is seeking a Trauma Data Coordinator to accurately interpret and abstract clinical data into the trauma registry, following PTOS/NTDB guidelines and ICD-10/AIS coding rules. The role supports quality and research projects and collaborates with peers for ICIS reliability checks.

The candidate will stay current with PT SF/NTDB updates, attend trauma-related meetings, and may have remote work options. This is a day-shift position with no holidays. Reading, PA area.

Qualifications

• Trauma registrar experience is preferred.
• CVS certification not required; experience counts.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and abstract clinical data from medical records into the trauma registry per PTOS/NTDB guidelines.
• Work independently to complete case abstraction within the designated time frame; collaborate on case assignment and peer reliability checks.
• Produce data for quality and research projects and guide trauma injury prevention initiatives.
• Run reports to prioritize workload as directed by the program manager.
• Stay updated on relevant PT SF and NTDB changes and attend trauma meetings as directed.

Job Summary

• The Trauma Data Coordinator (Trauma Registrar) accurately interprets and abstracts clinical data from the medical record into the trauma registry database as defined by the Pennsylvania Trauma Outcome Study (PTOS) and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) utilizing ICD-10 and AIS coding guidelines.
• They work independently to complete case abstraction within applicable time frame, and collaborate with other data coordinators on case assignment, submission, and to perform inter-rater reliability and validity checks on peer abstracted cases.
• Abstracted data is utilized for quality and research projects and to guide trauma injury prevention initiatives.
• Reports are run to prioritize work and as directed by program manager.
• The Trauma Data Coordinator stay informed of all relevant PTSF and NTDB updates and changes.
• They attend trauma related meetings and conferences as directed.
• There is potential to work remotely. Dayshift- No Holidays

Qualifications

Education Requirements

• 2 year/Associate Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Associate Degree
• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.

Experience

• Trauma registrar experience preferred
• CSTR and CAISS certifications preferred

Certification and Licensure

• Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) within 36 months of hire
• AAAM AIS (Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine - Abbreviated Injury Scale) certification within 1 year of hire
• Completion of certificate/degree in one or more of the following is preferred:
  • oCertified Trauma Registry Specialist (CTRS-through ACS)
  • oRHIT or RHIA (through AHIMA)
