Job summary

Reading Hospital is seeking a Trauma Data Coordinator (Trauma Registrar) to accurately interpret and abstract clinical data from medical records into the trauma registry in accordance with PTOS and NTDB guidelines. You will work independently to complete case abstraction within timeframes and collaborate with other coordinators on assignments and submissions.

The role supports quality and research initiatives, with updates on PTOSF and NTDB, and participation in trauma-related meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience in trauma registries and accurate data abstraction.
• Familiarity with PTOS and NTDB data standards and AIS coding.
• Ability to work independently and meet defined deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and abstract clinical data from medical records into the trauma registry.
• Work independently to complete case abstraction within timeframes.
• Collaborate with other data coordinators on case assignment and submission.
• Perform inter-rater reliability and validity checks on peer abstracted cases.
• Generate and review reports to prioritize work per program directions.
• Stay informed of PTOS/NTDB updates and changes.

• They work independently to complete case abstraction within applicable time frame, and collaborate with other data coordinators on case assignment, submission, and to perform inter-rater reliability and validity checks on peer abstracted cases.
• Abstracted data is utilized for quality and research projects and to guide trauma injury prevention initiatives.
• Reports are run to prioritize work and as directed by program manager.
• The Trauma Data Coordinator stay informed of all relevant PTSF and NTDB updates and changes.
• They attend trauma related meetings and conferences as directed.
• There is potential to work remotely. Dayshift- No Holidays

Qualifications

Education Requirements

• 2 year/Associate Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Associate Degree
• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.

Experience

• Trauma registrar experience preferred
• CSTR and CAISS certifications preferred

Certification and Licensure

• Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) within 36 months of hire
• AAAM AIS (Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine - Abbreviated Injury Scale) certification within 1 year of hire
• Completion of certificate/degree in one or more of the following is preferred:
• Certified Trauma Registry Specialist (CTRS-through ACS)
• RHIT or RHIA (through AHIMA)
