Job summary

Jobtailor is recruiting for a Trauma Data Abstraction Specialist to support the LVH Trauma Division. You will abstract clinical data, ensure NTDS/NTRACS compliance, and maintain accuracy within the Collector system and EPIC.

The role requires EPIC experience, medical terminology knowledge, and attention to detail for data entry and coding tasks. This on-site position emphasizes adherence to PA Trauma Systems Foundation guidelines and teamwork with the Trauma Team.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in health care-related field or 1 year abstracting clinical information into a database or 1 year billing or coding certificate or degree, in progress or complete.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Proficient in Windows computers and data entry.
  • Proficient in EPIC.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain database abstraction of clinical data from multiple sources as required by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) and Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Division.
  • Abstract and submit all required data elements into the Collector system as required by PTSF.
  • Communicate information to the Trauma Team regarding trauma audit filters or identified care issues.
  • Identify all trauma patients admitted to LVH and encountered by the trauma service and flag them in the EPIC system.
  • Compile data following NTDS and NTRACS data requirement guidelines.
  • Complete abstracts of all data from admission to discharge on assigned charts.
  • Collect patient records before and after discharge for review, analysis, and entry of diagnoses into the trauma registry database
