Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a data abstractor to manage and maintain the database abstraction of clinical data from multiple sources as required by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) and LVHN's Trauma Division. The role involves identifying trauma patients, abstracting data, and ensuring accurate entry into the trauma registry.

The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with healthcare-related experience, proficiency in EPIC, data entry, and

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; health care-related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.
Proficient in Windows and data entry.
Proficient in EPIC.

Responsibilities

Abstracts and submits all required data elements into Collector system as required by PTSF.
Communicates information to Trauma Team regarding trauma audit filters or identified care issues.
Identifies all trauma patients admitted to LVH and encountered by trauma service and flags these patients in EPIC system.
Compiles data following NTDS and NTRACS data requirement guidelines.
Completes abstracts of all data from admission to discharge on assigned charts.
Collects patient records (pre and post-discharge) for review, analysis, and entry of diagnosis into the trauma registry database.
