Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator to identify, verify, and investigate complications and events involving trauma patients. You will lead performance improvement initiatives from pre-hospital through discharge, develop action plans, and drive loop closure for quality and risk issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other Healthcare-related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience required with two years project management, process improvement or risk management experience with knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Emergency Department or Trauma/Surgical Critical Care preferred.
  • Experience with clinical quality and patient safety principles/initiatives; demonstrated ability to apply concepts.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement (TOPIC) preferred.
  • Must complete within one (1) year of hire. AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scoring (AIS) Course required within one (1) year of hire. Updates and other related courses may be required as needed. Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) preferred. Course completion required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects/assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and meet all deadlines a must.
  • Must have strong knowledge of efficient and effective data gathering techniques and develop a growing base of analytical/technical and process improvement tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to design and present effective educational programs, as well as interact at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, verify, and investigate complications and events involving trauma patients.
  • Analyze trends and lead performance improvement and quality assurance activities of the trauma program beginning with pre-hospital and extending through discharge.
  • Develop action plans and completion of loop closure/event resolution for both quality of care and risk issues.
  • Emphasis on initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce variability, errors, and defects utilizing program data and current trauma best practices.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations, provide education to team members, and apply new continuous improvement methodologies to spread successful innovation.
  • This role will reflect the most recent ACS criteria and standards regarding trauma performance improvement activities.
