Job summary

The Hughston Clinic in Augusta, GA, seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support trauma care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. The role includes clinic duties, minor procedures, and coordinated care with surgeons.

Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, night ED coverage, and transitioning patients after discharge. Requires surgical first assist capability and board certification, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• One year orthopaedics experience preferred.
• Surgical First Assist credential or ability to obtain within one year.
• NCCPA or NP board certification required.
• Current BLS certification.
• State licensure and DEA registration required.

Responsibilities

• Represent Hughston Orthopaedic Trauma with professional conduct.
• Assist clinic staff in ambulatory setting including triage and paperwork.
• Perform minor procedures in ambulatory care (suture/staple removal, debridement, joint aspirations).
• Maintain APP clinic weekly with shared responsibility for selected patients.
• Inpatient duties one weekend per month (rounding, consultations, surgery assistance).
• Night call (5pm–7am) up to five nights per month for ED consults.
• Coordinate transition of care from inpatient to outpatient after discharge.
• Provide backup support to other Trauma APPs as assigned.
• Communicate daily with APP colleagues to coordinate care.
