Job summary

Salt Lake County is hiring a Youth Worker to support shelter and crisis intakes, orient youth to policies, and monitor daily activities. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, documentation, and coordination with guardians and community resources.

The position requires an Associate degree (or 60 credits), a valid Utah driver's license, and a clean background. Evening and weekend shifts are currently available in this full-time role.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 undergraduate credits (or equivalent) from an accredited college.
• Must pass a verified negative drug test and background check.
• Valid Utah driver’s license at hire; license must be obtained within six months to operate County vehicle.
• Currently openings for Evening and Weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth programs and address potentially dangerous situations.
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to confidentiality and DHHS Provider Code of Conduct.
• Assist with daily hygiene, chores, and healthy living environment for youth.
• Plan and facilitate recreational activities and skills groups; follow schedules.
• Document all pertinent information in clients’ online records (intake, progress, visits, etc).
• Administer medication as prescribed and ensure it is secured per policy.
• Transport youth to school, medical appointments, and off-campus activities.
• Coordinate services with guardians/caseworkers and refer to community resources.
• Search for weapons/contraband and confiscate违法 items if needed.
• Provide crisis intervention and trauma-informed mentoring to youth.
