Job summary

Pelham Academy, a residential treatment program operated by Justice Resource Institute in Lexington, MA, is seeking a Competency Counselor to support adolescent students. You will work under the Competency Coordinator, planning activities and delivering trauma-informed care in a dynamic team.

This role includes evenings and some weekend shifts, a pay range of $19.00–$25.00 per hour, plus bilingual bonus opportunities and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health settings preferred.
• Experience planning activities and engaging the community.
• Valid driver’s license required for transporting students.
• Ability to work evenings, holidays and weekend shifts as required.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement recreational activities for adolescent students.
• Help students develop life skills such as cooking, banking, vocational skills.
• Develop community connections through volunteering, art classes, and athletics.
• Create a safe and therapeutic community by role modeling effective coping strategies.
