Job summary

Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Youth Worker I for the YCIC/Youth Shelter in Winnebago, NE. The role involves receiving juveniles, advising parents and agencies, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment while coordinating with tribal court resources.

You will work varied shifts 24/7, perform intake and orientation, apply trauma-informed care, document observations, and maintain confidentiality while promoting the tribe’s mission and youth welfare.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of college or minimum one year demonstrated experience with at-risk youth.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet driver’s eligibility guidelines.
• Must maintain a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
• Must handle situations with tact, courtesy, respect and objectivity.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision and values.
• Work shifts including weekends and holidays (facility operates 24/7).
• Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality to meet staffing needs.
• Intake and orientation of youth, guardians, attorneys, social workers, and other relevant personnel per policies.
• Apply Trauma Informed Care when assisting youth at program entry.
• Familiarity with security measures applicable to the facility.
• Implement policies and procedures as set forth in manuals.
• Lead daily activity program and monitor youth on assigned shift.
• Implement behavior management techniques where appropriate.
• Coordinate with guardians and agencies regarding youth medical and special needs.
• Document behavioral observations in daily logs.
• Provide outreach services for disenfranchised youth when warranted.
