Job summary

The Youth Specialist will work as a part-time, non-exempt employee with BGCGNWI, partnering with Porter County Juvenile Justice Services to provide structured, trauma-informed mentorship and reentry support to justice-involved youth.

Based in the Porter County Juvenile Justice Services Building and BGCGNWI locations, the role emphasizes leadership development, Keystone Club activities, and connection to school, work, and community opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Experience working with youth, preferred in juvenile justice or youth development.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and collaborate with partners.

Responsibilities

• Mentor justice-involved youth with trauma-informed support.
• Lead Keystone Club activities emphasizing academics, career prep, and service.
• Collaborate with occupational therapy and PCJJS staff.
• Help youth transition from facility to community programs.
• Document attendance and progress for reporting.
• Maintain safety, professional boundaries, and supervision.
