Job summary

Adelphoi recruits a dedicated Residential Youth Counselor to participate in daily youth activities and to assist in counseling sessions and crisis management. You will help maintain schedules, support transport and ensure safety across all shifts, while applying first aid and trauma-informed approaches.

The role requires adherence to confidentiality, routine training in crisis intervention, and teamwork within a residential setting serving youth with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; further education preferred.
• Willingness to complete crisis intervention/restraint training.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in daily schedule of youth activities, including meals, cleanup, chores, laundry, etc.
• Observes individual, group, family counseling sessions and assists with note-taking or support activities.
• Observes youth behaviors and discusses interventions with more experienced staff.
• Establishes credibility by modeling positive behavior and teamwork for youth to observe.
• Assists in physical restraints and supports the residential team during crises as directed.
• Able to apply first aid or CPR and support responders during emergencies.
• Learns routines, regulations, and safety protocols; notes non-compliant items for correction.
• Supports trauma-informed care to create a safe, non-violent environment for clients and staff.
• Uses systems related to confidentiality and HIPAA.
