Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking a part-time Caseworker in the Commonwealth's Attorney Office to support the Victim-Witness Program. You will assist victims and witnesses of crime, manage communications via phone, email, and in person, and coordinate interviews and court appearances.

The role requires experience with victims/witnesses, trauma-informed care, and familiarity with protective orders and victim compensation processes.

Qualifications

• Requires a combination of higher education and/or experience equivalent to four (4) years in social work, criminal justice, or related field which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience working with victims and/or witnesses of crime and familiarity with protective orders, victim compensation programs, and court accompaniment procedures.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and their application in victim services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate services for victims and witnesses in the Criminal Justice System.
• Maintain contact with victims/witnesses via phone, email, and in person.
• Assist with interviews, court appearances, and case file management.
• Provide backup to other staff and help plan activities for National Victims’ Rights Week.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutors, or legal aid organizations to support client needs.
