Job summary

Nexus Family Healing is seeking Substitute Teachers for Grand Prairie School at our Onarga, IL location. The role supports a residential program for youths aged 10 to 20, with a focus on mental health and trauma-informed approaches.

The schedule is as-needed, Monday through Friday, with on-call hours and opportunities in June–August. The position offers hourly pay and requires a valid Illinois Substitute Teaching License, a DCFS background check, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

ISBE Substitute Teaching License required.
Must pass DCFS background check.
Must have a valid Driver's License and transportation.
Must be open to serving diverse communities and cultural needs.

Responsibilities

Complement the scheduling needs of the full-time teaching staff.
Provide instruction to assigned students in classes of expertise as assigned.
Provide crisis intervention within the classroom and apply de-escalation techniques as appropriate; seek assistance when warranted.
Maintain confidentiality of students in compliance with licensing, COA and HIPAA guidelines.
Attend required trainings and support Nexus treatment philosophy and modalities.
