Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village seeks a Substance Use Counselor to join the clinical team in New York. You will manage a caseload of substance use disorder patients, provide individual and group counseling, assessments, and referrals to support recovery.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC certification, and 1–2 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and laws protecting client information is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification.
• 1–2 years of experience with Substance Use Disorder clients, preferably in opioid programs.
• Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care and organizational treatment.
• Knowledge of laws regarding personnel and client information.

Responsibilities

• Develop a treatment plan with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor reflecting track-specific needs.
• Use trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches with patients and treatment teams.
• Provide clinical consultation to referrals, mentors, and family members to support recovery.
• Engage patients in decision-making and coordinate appropriate level of care.
• Review referral information and coordinate scheduling of patient interviews.
• Refer to programs and agencies to meet treatment needs.
• Assist with scheduling admissions or first appointments at referred programs.
• Monitor patient access to treatment and address barriers to recovery.
