Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village in New York is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to join the clinical team. You will manage a caseload of patients, provide individual and group counseling, and contribute to assessments and care coordination in support of our mission.

Under supervision, you will apply trauma-informed approaches, collaborate with treatment staff, and ensure documentation compliance. A CASAC credential and 1–2 years of SUD experience are preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification.
• 1–2 years of related SUD experience, preferably in an Opioid Treatment Program.
• Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and organizational treatment.
• Knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
• Knowledge of laws regarding personnel and client information.

Responsibilities

• Develops a treatment plan in collaboration with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor.
• Uses trauma-informed approaches to support patients and collaborate with the treatment team.
• Provides clinical consultation to referral resources, family members, and others.
• Engages patients in decision-making and facilitates understanding of levels of care.
• Collects and reviews referral information and coordinates scheduling of interviews.
• Refers patients to appropriate programs and agencies to meet treatment needs.
• Assists patients with scheduling admissions or first appointments.
