Job summary

Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc. seeks Substance Use Counselor I/II to deliver comprehensive counseling and treatment planning for Alaska Native participants. You will conduct admissions, assessments, and individual/group sessions in a culturally competent care setting.

The position emphasizes ASAM criteria, DSM-5 guidelines, and coordination of discharge planning while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support recovery and continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Employment is contingent upon satisfactory state and federal fingerprint background check.
• Experience implementing clinical best practices in the substance use field and coordinating care transitions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct admissions, intakes, and orientations for new participants.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in line with policies and expectations.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use.
• Apply ASAM criteria and DSM-5 guidelines for diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
• Maintain clinical documentation including assessments, plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources (employment, housing, medical care, etc.).
• Collaborate with treatment teams to provide recovery support services and advocacy.
• Maintain required billable/direct-care time thresholds.
