Job summary

KEYS Academy, supported by Health Connect America, seeks a dedicated Special Education teacher to lead a trauma-informed classroom in Virginia. You will design individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals, monitor progress, and collaborate with families to support students’ growth.

You will work with students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs in a structured setting, using evidence-based practices to promote academic growth and positive social outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Active Virginia teaching license in Special Education required.
  • Endorsement in Emotional Disabilities or SPED related area required; willingness to pursue further endorsement.
  • Strong knowledge of Special Education law, IEP development, and compliance.
  • Ability to implement SOL-aligned instruction and data-driven decisions.
  • Proficient with educational technology and online learning platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lessons aligned to SOLs and IEP goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs.
  • Embed social-emotional learning and communication development.
  • Maintain structured, dignified, supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, administrators, and families.
  • Attend IEP meetings and participate in required trainings.
