Job summary

Tacoma Rescue Mission in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Security Specialist to create a safe, welcoming environment for guests, clients, donors, volunteers, and staff. You’ll deter unlawful activity, protect people and property, and enforce TRM policies with a trauma-informed, respectful approach.

This role requires at least two years of related experience, strong de-escalation and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting on Thursday through Sunday, 7am to 5pm at the

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience.
• Experience working with or serving marginalized communities.
• Proficiency with office equipment and Microsoft Office Suites.
• Effective de-escalation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a short time.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interact with guests, clients, donors, volunteers, and staff to provide excellent customer service and enforce TRM policies.
• Patrol campus regularly to ensure safety across all areas and surroundings.
• Collaborate with staff and respond to requests for assistance.
• Manage security incidents and emergencies; de-escalate and resolve crises as needed.
• Document incidents concisely and report to supervisor for follow-up.
• Call police, fire department, or first responders as directed or needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of documents per TRM standards.
• Uphold the mission of sharing God’s love and supporting neighbors in need.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure an efficient work environment.
