Job summary

The Children's Guild in Baltimore, MD is seeking a School Social Worker to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs within a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment.

You will conduct counseling, assessments, contribute to IEP/504 planning, connect families to community resources, support attendance, and advocate for students while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Active licensure in Maryland (LCSW-C, LCSW, LMSW, or working toward full licensure).
  • 2–5 years of experience in a school-based, child welfare, or community-based setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, IDEA, and 504 regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home and community visits.
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to IEP and 504 planning.
  • Connect families to community resources, wraparound services, and crisis support.
  • Support attendance intervention efforts and chronic absenteeism reduction.
  • Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and families to support student well-being.
  • Serve as a student advocate — ensuring every child's voice is heard and their needs are met.
  • Facilitate family meetings, home visits, and community outreach as needed.
  • Support crisis assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation in collaboration with the school team.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with COMAR, HIPAA, and agency standards.
  • Drive cultural transformation efforts by championing a trauma-informed, family-centered school culture.
