Job summary

Foundations to Healing, Inc. in DeLand, Florida, is seeking a compassionate Primary Therapist to provide group and individual counseling within PHP, IOP, and OP programs.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, person-centered care to support clients toward recovery and lasting change. You will facilitate sessions, conduct intake assessments, document progress, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and stay current with best practices in substance use treatment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required.
• Licensed or license-eligible in Florida (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) is required.
• Experience facilitating group counseling in a substance use or behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and person-centered treatment approaches.
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices for substance use, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral change.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate therapeutic group sessions in PHP/IOP/OP with trauma-informed approaches.
• Provide individual counseling, assess progress, and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Deliver curricula for PHP, IOP, OP, and related programs as assigned.
• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to determine appropriate care levels.
• Maintain accurate documentation of sessions and treatment progress.
• Prepare progress reports and communicate with referral sources to coordinate care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic client support.
• Respond to crisis situations prioritizing safety with non-judgmental support.
• Promote recovery by fostering coping strategies and accountability.
• Stay current on best practices in substance use, BIP, and DUI counseling; attend trainings.
• Comply with all organizational policies and perform other duties as needed.

Education

Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field

Licensed or license-eligible in Florida (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT)

Experience facilitating group counseling in a substance use or behavioral health setting

Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care principles

Familiarity with evidence-based practices for substance use
