Job summary

Child & Family Service in Wailuku, HI is seeking an Outreach Specialist to conduct community outreach and screen for trauma and mental health concerns. You will provide information and referral services, linkages, and may offer informal lay counseling to those in need.

The role requires a high school diploma with additional training, 1–2 years of direct care with children/youth, trauma-informed knowledge, and the ability to work with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis response.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of information and referral services and basic counseling.
• Willingness to travel within the island and operate using an agency vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community outreach and screening for trauma and/or mental health concerns.
• Provide information and referral services and linkages as appropriate.
• Offer informal lay counseling where needed; support crisis stabilization and accessibility of services.
