Job summary

CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND is seeking a Mental Health Tech to support front-line patient care within our therapeutic milieu.

You will provide essential support and guidance to individuals on their journey to mental wellness, helping create a safe and nurturing environment where healing begins. In this role you will work on the front lines, assist with vital signs and daily living activities in crisis moments, lead groups, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver

Qualifications

• HS diploma and at least 1 year experience as Psych Tech or equivalent.
• Nurse Assistant Registry listed or willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• CPI Certification, Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting, and First Aid within 6 months of employment (if applicable).
• BLS or BLS instructor certification upon hire (ARC, ASHI, or AHA accepted).

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through a trauma-informed lens, helping them discover healthy ways to express themselves, problem-solve, and build resilience
• Provide crucial feedback and positive reinforcement, helping patients acknowledge and take responsibility for their own behavioral patterns
• Act as a critical resource in emergency situations, maintaining a secure environment, and providing essential basic nursing tasks like vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting with daily living activities
• Facilitate supportive groups, educational activities, and psych-educational sessions, fostering a sense of community and teaching vital socialization skills
• Utilize your strong communication skills - both verbal and written - to connect with a diverse patient population and collaborate seamlessly with our interdisciplinary team
• Become proficient in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques, using them to de-escalate situations, promote positive interpersonal skills, and minimize the need for restrictive interventions
