Job summary

Emergence Health Network is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support the Records Department. The role involves converting paper records to electronic systems, ensuring accuracy, and handling requests for records while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of medical records experience. Trainees will work under supervision to perform routine and some complex clerical tasks in a trauma-informed care

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in medical records preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Arranges and locates records in the computer and closes cases per procedures.
• Compiles reports, checks out equipment, and handles external documents requests.
• Scans progress notes, lab results, evaluations, medication lists and other client materials.
• Performs keyboarding of correspondence and other materials from various sources.
• Maintains and indexes records in the asset management system and ensures HIPAA compliance.
• Purge and organize records in accordance with department policies.
• Assist clients with release of information forms and related documents.
