Job summary

Phoenix House of NY LI is seeking a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist to deliver trauma-informed, recovery-oriented group services at a peer recovery center. You will design and facilitate creative arts and wellness activities, fostering self-expression, coping skills, and social connections within an inclusive, strengths-based environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in creative arts therapy or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience facilitating groups in behavioral health, substance use recovery, community mental health, social services, or a related setting.
• Current, unrestricted license or permit qualifying the individual to practice creative arts therapy in the jurisdiction of employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate recurring therapeutic and wellness groups using visual art, music, movement, drama, writing, mindfulness, and other modalities.
• Lead accessible physical wellness activities and adapt activities to varied abilities with appropriate approvals.
• Create a trauma-informed, culturally responsive group environment grounded in choice and dignity.
• Collaborate with peers, staff, and community partners to develop activities reflecting recovery goals.
• Develop and manage community partnerships to increase participation and access to services.
• Document attendance, interventions, progress, referrals, and incidents accurately per policy.
