Job summary

YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a full-time Counselor and Support Group Facilitator to provide trauma-informed, empowerment-based emotional support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and related trauma. The role includes individual counseling and leading support groups for survivors and non-offending loved ones.

Qualifications

• Experience providing counseling, advocacy, or direct human services.
• Trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach.
• Ability to travel within Dauphin and Perry Counties.
• Valid driver’s license and mileage reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, non-clinical support and individual counseling to survivors and non-offending loved ones.
• Facilitate in-house and community-based support and psychoeducational groups.
• Collaborate with advocacy staff to connect participants with resources, safety planning, and referrals.
• Coordinate the annual support group schedule and maintain confidential client documentation.
• Provide crisis intervention, hotline support, shelter services, and medical/legal accompaniments.
• Serve as an on-call advocate and participate in team meetings, case reviews, and community outreach.
• Support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
