Qualifications

• Two years of college or associate degree with child development courses and/or experience required.
• Two-year degree in some type of child development and/or family studies courses.
• At least six months related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess the developmental level of children during their evaluation and provide emotional support and supervision accordingly.
• Provide support to children ranging from infancy to adolescence development and who may be in crisis.
• Address the comfort needs of children and families in a non-judgmental manner while facilitating positive coping through structured interactions with children.
• Support the operational needs of the department while promoting a safe and child friendly environment.
• Possesses knowledge of basic child development and family systems.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the developmental effects of stress and trauma on children and interventions to alleviate distress.
• Displays knowledge of the special needs of children with chronic or disabling conditions.
