Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD seeks an Inpatient Child Life Specialist to develop and coordinate developmentally appropriate play activities for pediatric patients and families. You will advocate for the child while collaborating with the healthcare team to determine suitable therapeutic interventions and supportive family-centered care strategies.

Utilize expertise in child development, stress and trauma effects, and family systems to alleviate distress and promote resiliency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, or related field required.
• Completion of Child Life internship required.
• CCLS certification required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
• BLS certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and implement developmentally appropriate play activities for pediatric patients and families.
• Act as child advocate when collaborating with the healthcare team to determine interventions.
• Apply knowledge of child development and family systems to design supportive interventions.
• Provide oversight and direction for volunteer utilization in the Child Life department.

Skills

Pediatric experience (2+ yrs)

CCLS certification (or eligible)

Education

Bachelor's degree in Child Life/Child Development/related field
