Job summary

The Hospitality Hub in Memphis seeks a dedicated Case Counselor to respond with care, creativity, and urgency to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. You will create pathways out of homelessness and ensure access to services while unhoused, within a hospitable, calm, and kind environment.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with overtime potential during emergencies or special events.

Qualifications

• Experience or willingness to work with vulnerable populations.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
• Compassionate listener with the ability to motivate and empower others.
• Creative and proactive problem solver with trauma-informed approach.
• Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency.
• Knowledge of HMIS data entry and reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Case Counselors, Street Outreach Specialists, and Hub leadership to provide coordinated support.
• Conduct intakes and comprehensive assessments to identify needs and goals.
• Co-create goal-oriented case plans using motivational interviewing and trauma-informed approaches.
• Maintain accurate HMIS and other required databases.
• Stay informed about Hub programs and community resources to provide accurate referrals.
• Facilitate access to healthcare, benefits, identification, and housing programs.
• Provide follow-up to measure progress toward goals.
• Build trusting relationships with guests with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
• Utilize de-escalation and mediation to resolve conflicts and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Support team communication via Slack and other tools.
• Maintain Hub safety protocols and complete daily shift documentation.
• Keep spaces clean, organized, and safe.
• Assist in data reporting with daily counts of guests served and outcomes.
• Communicate progress to supervisors and celebrate client milestones.
• Identify issues and propose solutions to improve services and efficiency.
• Step into other roles as needed and represent the Hub positively.
