Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare Inc. seeks a Behavioral Health Education Specialist II to provide direct patient care, build rapport, and implement treatment plans under the multidisciplinary team. You will focus on trauma-informed, supportive contact, skill-building, and initial risk assessment to ensure safety.

Responsibilities include leading educational activities, applying TBRI and TCI methods, documenting care in Epic, and mentoring peers. Flexibility to float to other classrooms is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or related field (education is verified).
• Ability to obtain Colorado Department of Education substitute license within 6 months of hire.
• Skills pass of Special Education Training on IEP reading and implementation provided by the Special Education Supervisor.
• Demonstrated experience in de-escalating negative behaviors and creating safe environments.
• Demonstrated experience in Behavioral Health, Special Education, Early Childhood Education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for critical daily documentation.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Positive driving record, proof of insurance, and Colorado driver’s license.
• BLS and First Aid within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Leads a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment with the multidisciplinary team and culturally sensitive care.
• Support planning, instruction, and facilitation in all educational programming and social-emotional learning.
• Facilitate group activities, goal setting, relaxation, skill-building, and psycho-educational sessions.
• Apply Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to support emotions.
• Identify critical situations and collaborate to develop new interventions and supports.
• Respond to crises using approved crisis interventions, including safe restraint per policy.
• Document interventions, observations, and interactions in Epic; mentor peers on documentation.
• May float to other classrooms/departments as needed per business needs.
