Job summary

The Behavioral Health Director at Shepherd’s Clinic provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and program development for the Behavioral Health Department at a small free and charitable clinic. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling or social work or a closely related mental health field.
• Independent clinical licensure in Maryland and board-approved supervisor status.
• Clinical leadership experience with 2+ years in supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong understanding of integrated healthcare, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Behavioral Health Department operations, scheduling, caseloads, and documentation workflows.
• Develop policies and evidence-based practices aligned with regulatory standards.
• Onboard licensed clinicians, interns, and administrative staff.
• Manage budgeting and coordinate fundraising events.
• Provide clinical supervision and training to clinicians and interns.
• Maintain a small clinical caseload and deliver treatment per plans.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and timely documentation, data reporting.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and referral networks.
• Represent the clinic in coalitions to promote health equity.
