Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team. The PA will support the ED during peak hours, collaborating with surgeons and residents to deliver high-quality trauma and surgical care.

This full-time role requires NYS licensure, NCCPA, and BLS/ACLS. 1–2 years in surgical or inpatient care is preferred; mid-shift hours are negotiable, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required.
• NY State licensure and national certification (NCCPA) are required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; ATLS certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of relevant surgical or inpatient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers.
• Perform ED consultations with comprehensive assessments for the ACS&CC service line.
• Perform procedures and wound care in the ED as needed.
• Coordinate discharges and arrange follow-up care.
• Respond to ED ACS&CC consults with timely evaluations.
• Document encounters and procedures in the EMR.
• Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, residents, and medical students.
