Position: Trauma Center Registrar

The Trauma Center Registrar oversees the Trauma Registry, ensuring that the Registry information is current, accurate, and complete. This role is 20 hours/week (during the day) and 100% remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and ensure work is performed in conformance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Recommend, implement, and maintain Trauma registry systems and procedures to promote efficient support service operations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive listing of admitted trauma patients by reviewing Emergency Department logs and multidisciplinary service admission lists. Ensure accuracy of Trauma Registry data. Evaluate, recommend, and implement system upgrades as appropriate.
  • Input information into computer databases and spreadsheets, monitor data validity, and prepare, print, and distribute periodic reports and other information as needed. Comply with hospital, governmental, regulatory, and funding agency requirements.
  • Assist in trauma research, education, performance improvement (PI), and other trauma service activities.
  • Promote a cooperative work environment through effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building. Maintain courteous interactions with colleagues and contribute to departmental teamwork.
  • Lead and oversee work of designated office support personnel. Plan and prioritize work assignments, provide feedback and guidance, train and orient new personnel, and communicate policy changes. Participate in peer reviews.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required.
  • 2 years of occupationally specific education or an Associate's degree.
  • Certification in medical coding required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; three years of healthcare experience with medical terminology and coding preferred.
  • Preferred: AAAM AIS Course Certificate (2015), ICD-10 Course within the past 5 years, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (PCS).
  • Minimum 1 year of abstracting experience preferred.
  • Preferred: Trauma registry course certification, trauma-related continuing education, CAISS certification.
