Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – to join the Trauma team on a per diem basis. Responsibilities include patient assessment, critical care procedures, coordinating care with trauma surgeons and residents, and documenting care in EMR.

Requirements: Master’s degree as NP or PA, NJ license, board certification, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Hourly rate ranges from $45 to $78.

Qualifications

• Master's degree as NP or PA and board certification if applicable.
• Active New Jersey license required.
• Experience in trauma, emergency medicine, surgery or critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and management of critically injured trauma patients.
• Perform bedside procedures and monitor progress (arterial/central lines, intubation, chest tube as needed).
• Coordinate care with trauma surgeons, intensivists, residents and the multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor patient condition, interpret labs/imaging, guide treatment decisions.
• Educate families and provide emotional support about condition and prognosis.
• Maintain detailed EMR documentation of assessments, treatments and outcomes.
• Lead nursing staff education and contribute to trainee training as needed.
• Participate in trauma quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.
